Wendy Symes

Wendy Symes is a Research Fellow in the Institute for Psychology in Education at the University of Münster, Germany. She was previously an Assistant Professor in Psychology in Education at the University of Birmingham, UK. Her research focuses on students’ emotions and motivation in learning contexts. More specifically she is interested in how individual differences in students’ emotions and motivation arise, and the consequences of these differences for students’ achievement. She has a particular focus on test anxiety in relation to high-stakes exams.

She is an Assistant Editor of the British Journal of Educational Psychology, and a coordinator of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) special interest group ‘Motivation and Emotion.’
