Julie J. Weatherly, Esq. is the Founder of RISE, Inc., a full-service legal and consulting business in Mobile, AL, that helps educational agencies avoid and resolve special education legal disputes. She is a member of the State Bars of Alabama and Georgia and provides consultative and/or legal services to school agencies and their representatives nationwide. Weatherly has been a member of the faculty for many national and state legal Institutes, is a frequent speaker at state and national special education law conferences. She has developed numerous in-person and online professional development training series.
In June of 1996, Weatherly appeared with Leslie Stahl on the CBS news program “60 Minutes” to discuss the cost of meeting the legal requirements of the IDEA. In 1998, Julie was honored by Georgia’s Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) as the individual who had contributed most to students with disabilities in the state. In April 2012, she received the National Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) award for Outstanding Service. Recently, Julie has also been honored by several state-level educational associations for her distinguished service. Julie is also the author of the 2024 “Section 504 Process Manual: 504 Sample Forms & Procedures” published by CASE and sold nationally.
