Join Jim Wright, acclaimed presenter and author of RTI Toolkit to learn about RTI and how it can be used to improve behavior and lead to academic success.

Students who are chronically angry, confrontational, off-task, or unmotivated can easily disrupt the learning of an entire classroom. This workshop presents solid, research-based recommendations that teachers can use effectively both with individual students and with challenging groups. The workshop uses 'Response-to-Intervention' (RTI) as a problem-solving model to identify factors that trigger student misbehavior and to select appropriate interventions to reduce or prevent those behaviors.

The workshop includes:

  • Group management strategies to increase student learning and achieve positive classroom control
  • Communication tools to encourage defiant students to comply with teacher requests
  • Tips to assist overactive/inattentive students to stay focused and avoid distracting others
  • Methods to motivate the disengaged, unmotivated learner
  • Ideas to teach students to monitor and manage their own behavior
  • Free internet resources to help teachers to measure and manage student behaviors

Suggested attendees include::

  • Superintendents
  • General Educators
  • Special Educators
  • Teachers
  • Reading Specialists
  • Principals
  • Psychologists
